At Beehive School we realize the importance of education, so we use only high-quality textbooks and teaching materials. Textbooks published by Fraus are crucial for the classes taught in Czech. Mathematics is therefore becoming one of the most popular subjects, since we teach in accordance with the professor Hejný method. We have chosen this method as it is based on the respect of 12 fundamental principles, which are ingeniously compiled into a coherent whole, so that the child will find Math fun and easy. (see more on www.h-mat.cz/principy) In addition, our teachers are the authors of many teaching materials, which ensure us the interconnection of the Czech and English subjects.

For the classes taught in English, we mostly use the textbooks published by Oxford University Press and other materials of English-speaking countries.

The most modern teaching methods and tools are the obvious things for us to have (smart laptops, compatible with interactive whiteboards).

We realize how important language skills in a contemporary multicultural society are. At Beehive, we create such linguistic environment, where the child accepts the language naturally. This way the child learns to correctly formulate and use thoughts and ideas, starting from simple expressions to writing dictations and essays, reading and analyzing complex texts.

Another crucial milestone of our education is the cross-curricular connection, where the substance of individual subjects is taught in relation to other areas in a particular field.

Today’s children are attacked by the giant amount of information that is necessary to sort out. The child learns to find and choose the necessary information, to filter it and to identify priorities. We place great emphasis on the development of non-cognitive skills (motivation, endurance, self-management, social skills and emotional intelligence) that affect the success of our students while studying.

It the matter of fact that the students accept the curriculum through self-exploration, examples from the everyday life and the search of specific solutions, in which they can verify the validity of laws and rules. Active engagement in the process of mastering the curriculum gives them the opportunity to better understand a given problem. Students have the opportunity to practice their creativity and present their own point of view, formulate assumptions, draw conclusions, ask questions and have discussions. Presenting the project in front of the audience composed of parent, relatives and other students is a valuable experience for the future.

Given the multicultural environment of our school, we strive to build the traits of empathy, respect and care for others in our students.

An integral part of the Beehive School curriculum is keeping students in the spirit of global society towards the proper attitude for the Earth, nature and relevant environmental stance, which is achieved by implementing various teaching methods including group work, critical thinking, projects, thematic lessons and games. During the studies, children develop their ethical skills such as proper means of communication, respect for the values, opinions and beliefs of other people and having the worldview with understanding of the fundamental problems of the modern world.
